Reading a Kia number
Kia uses the group's five-five format: five digits for the part type, then five carrying a platform code and variant. The part-type block is identical across Kia, Hyundai and Genesis — 58101 is a front brake pad kit on all three — so a number that looks Hyundai may be exactly the part your Kia needs.
Conversely, a number whose first block does not match the component you asked for is a wrong part regardless of how right the rest of it looks. Checking the first five digits takes a second and catches a whole class of ordering errors.
Naming that shifts between markets and generations
Kia's European range has carried Ceed, Cee'd, ProCeed and XCeed as related but distinct models; Sportage, Sorento and Niro have each spanned several generations with substantially different parts; and the K-series naming used in some markets maps onto names used nowhere else.
