Audi has built parts across many platforms, engines and markets since 1909. The 17-character VIN is what makes catalog lookups exact: ETKA decodes it to the precise model, engine, gearbox, trim and build market, then shows only the parts fitted to that car. How ETKA reads an Audi VIN

The VIN resolves the exact Audi build — model, engine and gearbox codes, quattro or front-wheel drive, market and equipment — and ETKA then filters every diagram to that car. Audi leans harder than any other VAG marque on equipment-dependent variants: brakes, dampers and steering racks split by PR code within a single model year. The PR codes are printed on the data sticker in the spare-wheel well and in the service booklet; checking them against the catalog is what separates the right caliper from the plausible one.

Platform prefixes and index letters

Audi numbers follow the shared VAG scheme, with the first group naming the platform generation: 8K0 parts belong to the A4 of the B8 era, 8W0 to the B9, 4G0 to the A6 C7. S and RS models resolve through the same catalog — their brakes, cooling and body parts simply carry different numbers under the same main groups.

The trailing index letter is where Audi catches people out. Revisions are frequent, and a part bought as “…B” last year may now be “…C” or superseded to a different base number entirely. The catalog always ends the chain at the number the factory ships today; an old invoice does not.

Shared parts, one number

Where an Audi shares a platform with a VW or Škoda, the shared part carries one number across all of them. That works in your favour at the counter: the same wheel bearing or sensor may be stocked under the number you already have from another VAG job. ETKA shows the number, not the badge.
