How to look up SsangYong parts by VIN
Whichever name is on the tailgate, the steps are the same.

Musso and Rexton Sports: one truck, two names
The Musso name keeps coming back. It was on an SUV from 1993 to 2005 and on the Musso Sports pickup from 2002 to 2006, and since 2018 it has been on a pickup again. That last one is sold as the Rexton Sports in South Korea, Italy and Taiwan and as the Musso in other markets, and it shares its 2.2 e-XDi diesel with the Rexton. A new generation, the Q300, followed in 2026.

Mercedes-Benz inside older SsangYongs
SsangYong signed a technology partnership with Daimler-Benz in 1991, and the older vehicles show it. The first Musso used Mercedes-Benz M104 and M111 petrol engines and Mercedes diesels. The first Rexton, built from 2001, carried the M111, the M104 and the OM662 five-cylinder diesel, with Mercedes 5G-Tronic and later 7G-Tronic automatics. The Istana van was a badge-engineered Mercedes MB100.
On those vehicles, start from the SsangYong VIN like any other job. A Mercedes-Benz number from a forum thread is something to check against the catalog, not something to order from.
