A current Mopar number is eight digits followed by two letters — 68259752AB. The trailing letters are the revision level, stepping AA, AB, AC as the part is updated, and they change often enough that quoting from an old invoice is a reliable way to receive a superseded design.
Older numbers appear in other formats as the group's systems have consolidated over the decades; the catalog carries the chains forward from them to the current numbers, which is precisely what an installed copy stops doing the day its updates end.
Axles, drivetrains and packages
Jeep splits parts by drivetrain and axle to an unusual degree.
