DS Automobiles: a young badge on familiar bones
The split, and why it still matters
The DS3, DS4 and DS5 all began life as Citroens. Depending on market and year, the same car left the factory as a Citroen DS3 or a DS 3, and the paperwork does not always agree with the badge on the boot.
For parts this is straightforward once you know it: the catalog resolves the car from the VIN regardless of what the badge says, and the number you get is the correct one.
Shared platforms, separate finish
DS models sit on the same Stellantis platforms as their Peugeot and Citroen relatives, so mechanical parts cross freely. Suspension, brakes, cooling and powertrain hardware are frequently identical.
What DS does differently is the finish. Interior materials, lighting signatures and trim are specific to the brand and rarely interchange, which is the same pattern you see across every group that shares platforms.
Where to look it up
DS parts live in Service Box, the Stellantis catalog covering Peugeot, Citroen and DS together. Our guide to Service Box covers the numbering and the Opel and Vauxhall complication that came with the merger.
PSA numbers are written in groups such as 16 XXX XXX 80, and the same reference also appears without spaces.
