Why the search says ETKA but the catalog says PET

Porsche is often searched alongside the Volkswagen Group catalog. That association does not make ETKA the right catalog for a modern Porsche. Use the PET vehicle record and drawing for the car you are identifying.

ETK is another separate name: it refers to the BMW Group catalog. Similar abbreviations should not determine which catalog you open. Confirm the manufacturer and vehicle first.

Shared components do not mean identical applications

The 914 was a joint VW-Porsche project, the 924 used components from the VAG parts range, and Cayenne and Touareg have shared platform roots. A VAG-style number on a genuinely shared component may be correct. The catalog application, not the badge or a matching prefix, confirms the reference.

Check classic cars and replacement chains carefully

Older identification formats can differ from the modern 17-character VIN. Confirm the chassis or vehicle identifier, model year and available PET data. Do not invent characters to make an old identifier fit a modern input.
